Every year, we make a Paddock Club Race Pin, which we distribute to all Paddock Club customers, personnel, and helpers. These pins have become collectors items, valued for their beauty and uniqueness. We produce a single production run of about three to five thousand pins and never make them again. It's an honor to be our pin designer!

In earlier years, we selected a designer in committee. Today, we hold a contest among all graphics designers -- local and, via the Internet, throughout the world.

2001
If you're a graphics artist, experienced in pin design, you might win! Here are the details. . .

Submit your design and join us in the Paddock Club!

Design Rules
  • Pin may be no larger than 1.75" in largest diameter, nor smaller than 3/4" in smallest diameter.
  • Pin must be manufacturable by standard factory techniques. No Cloisonné or Pewter pins, nor pins requiring any unique or elaborate manufacturing techniques will be considered.
  • The following design elements must be included on the pin:
    • A racing theme. If cars are included as design elements, they must be Indy-type cars.
    • The race year (as "2002"; no abbreviations)
    • The words "Paddock Club" or "C-300 Paddock Club" -- spelled out; no abbreviations. (HINT: with all the pins available at the race, submissions with the words "Paddock Club" shown prominently are looked upon with favor.)
    • The words "Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach." Abbreviation to "TGPLB" is acceptable but frowned upon.
    • Either the term "C-300" or "Committee of 300" or the C-300 logo, prominently displayed.
  • (Optional) Some design element(s) reflecting the City of Long Beach may be included, for example:
    • Palm tree(s) and/or ocean beach
    • Long Beach's new Aquarium of the Pacific
    • The Long Beach skyline.
    • The Queen Mary.

  • The prize may not be exchanged for cash or other monetary equivalent.
  • Tickets may not be exchanged for tickets in a later year.
  • At the winner's option, the prize is transferable to a single party. That is, Saturday tickets may not be given to one individual and Sunday tickets to another. The user of the tickets assumes the winner's responsibility to pick up the winner's signs and other materials.
  • No transportation, lodging, or parking is included.
Legal Stuff
  • The winning entry becomes the sole property of the Committee of 300.
  • The Committee of 300 holds all copyright and reproduction rights to the winning pin design.
  • The winning party agrees that the Committee of 300 may produce any number of pins, based on his/her design, as required. The design may also be reproduced in the C300 newsletter and other publications. It may be displayed on the Internet, as well, at our discretion.
  • The winning party may not produce or authorize production of additional pins of the design.
  • The Committee of 300 agrees to not reproduce any non-winning pin design. Copy rights to non-winning designs remain with the originator.
